The Darmasiswa Scholarship Program is a one-year non-degree scholarship offered by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to international students from countries that maintain diplomatic relations with Indonesia. The program provides participants with the opportunity to study the Indonesian language, arts, music, crafts, and selected fields of study at 54 accredited higher education institutions located in various cities across Indonesia.
The primary objective of the Darmasiswa Scholarship Program is to introduce and foster international interest in the Indonesian language and culture. In addition, the program aims to promote mutual understanding and strengthen cultural relations among nations.
A. Requirements
a. Applicants must be foreign nationals.
b. Applicants must have completed senior secondary education or an equivalent qualification.
c. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and not more than 32 years old (for the current year).
d. Applicants must be able to communicate in English, as evidenced by an English proficiency certificate (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, or other relevant certificates), if available.
e. Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy, as proven by a medical certificate.
f. Applicants must have basic knowledge in the chosen field of study.
g. Applicants must demonstrate strong interest and motivation to study the selected field.
h. Applicants must not be alumni of the Darmasiswa Program.
i. Applicants must not be alumni of the KNB Scholarship.
j. Applicants must not currently be studying in Indonesia.
k. Applicants must not currently be working in Indonesia.
B. Scholarship Facilities
a. A monthly living allowance of IDR 4,700,000, with an additional one-time book allowance of IDR 2,000,000 and a one-time arrival allowance of IDR 4,700,000.
b. Accommodation and local transportation are provided during the Orientation Program, provided that scholarship recipients arrive according to the schedule determined by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
c. Participants will receive an official residence permit from the Government of Indonesia for the duration of the program.
d. Scholarship recipients are strongly advised to bring additional personal funds (preferably in USD) to cover unforeseen expenses during their stay in Indonesia.
C. Required Documents
a. Curriculum Vitae (using the official Darmasiswa template).
b. Medical certificate (in English).
c. A passport valid for at least 18 months from the date of application.
d. A letter of recommendation from an educational institution or professional organization, printed on official letterhead and signed (in English).
e. Academic transcript and latest diploma (in English).
f. English proficiency certificate (if available).
g. Other certificates relevant to the chosen field of study (if available).
h. Recent color photograph.
i. An essay stating the applicant’s purpose of study in Indonesia (in English or Indonesian, maximum 500 words).
j. A self-introduction video with a maximum duration of 2 minutes, explaining the applicant’s motivation for joining the program and their intended contribution as a cultural ambassador of Indonesia after completing the program (in English or Indonesian).
